Elisa Lievevrouw to present at Metaforum Symposium "Mobile health: zijn we er klaar voor?"
On the 19th of September Elisa Lievevrouw will present her work on the social aspects and implications of wearables at the Metaforum Symposium "Mobile Health: zijn we er klaar voor?" [Mobile Health: Ready for implementation?'].
The symposium focuses on the technological advancements in healthcare and wellbeing, and the pressing questions and concerns that come with these developments. How accurate are these devices in measuring medical parameters? How trustworthy are the used algorithms? Does the use of wearables really lead to more healthy behaviour? What are the social implications of the use of these technologies? Will this lead to more or less dependence of big tech- and data companies?
At the symposium the interdisciplinary working group of Metaforum, the think tank for societal debate of KU Leuven, will present her vision statement Mobile Health: Ready for Implementation, accompanied by several speakers that will present on related issues.
This symposium (14:00-17:00, BMW 3, Gasthuisberg (O&N2), Herestraat 49, Leuven) will take place in Dutch, more information and the full programme can be found here.
