Master of European Politics and Policies (MEPP)

Testimonials

Janos Harcsa

"The MEPP program is an exceptionally well structured Master’s course with brilliant professors and a sparkling international environment. It provides a clear understanding of European issues and help students to better grasp the European idea. I assume that the friendships I made will last for a long time."

Janos Harcsa, Italy/Hungary, MEPP 2006-2007

Karl Croonenborghs

"Looking back at the MEPP programme, the famous question once raised by former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger: “If I want to know the opinion of Europe, who should I call?” became answered. As a lawyer specialized in EU, WTO, and regulatory the additional strength of MEPP lies specifically in its multidisciplinary and multilevel approach to the process of European integration and the way European institutions and broader the public sector interactively function in this 21st century global context."
The proximity of the University of Leuven to the institutions in Brussels and the broad experience of the professors in this area, most of whom have worked for many years in the various institutions, offers students a privileged insight in the EU decision-making process and the logics behind it. Therefore, I would like to recommend the MEPP programme to all international students who are genuinely interested in committing themselves to an in depth study of the challenging field of  European politics, policies and public administration.
Go to Leuven if you want to end up in a real European adventure!"

Karl Croonenborghs, Belgium, MEPP 2006-2007

Karolina Romanska

"I think above all the reason why the MEPP experience was so excellent was due to the people I met there. Sometimes things just “click”. That important factor, coupled with the fact that we all really adored our classes made MEPP very special.  Aside from all the nice social things, I can now honestly say that I know why the Brits do not implement certain EU laws, and wait to do it till the day of the deadline, even though they are effectively among the first to be ready to implement!  That and other interesting things is what you can learn at the MEPP program.  You will wake up one day and know where all the structural problems the EU is fighting are coming from…"

Karolina Romanska, Poland, MEPP 2006-2007

“I came to Leuven expecting to learn what is the European Union about, how it works and how can I become an active part of it. My expectations have been fulfilled. Apart from what I have learned, I have also made a lot of friends of different nationalities, which also makes me feel more European…“

Kassianidou Chrysoula

Someone said "you must learn not only to dream, but also to follow your dreams" and I believe that the city of Leuven, the University and the MEPP program could help you to realise the significance of this quote. Indeed, it was one of the best experiences I have ever had !

Maartje Wouters

Looking back, the MEPP programme has truly broadened my academic view by the insight it has given me in the world of EU politics. The choice for the MEPP programme has definitely been the right one for me, as my knowledge of the EU and its policies has increaded tremendously while my interest and fascination with the EU has also grown. This year I have found the missing piece of the academic puzzle I have been looking for throughout my law education in the Netherlands. Therefore I would recommend the MEPP programme to all who are genuinely interested in European politics, policies and public administration. Coming from a legal background I would especially like to say to all lawyers that the MEPP programme gives you the unique opportunity to take a good look in the kitchen of EU politcs and policies and as such is an excellent opportunity that you will not easily find somewhere else.

Maartje Wouters; Dutch; MEPP 2005-2006

The MEPP programme presented me with the opportunity to move away from the generic courses offered within this area in Ireland and to get a better hands of experience on the functioning of the European Institutions and to get a better understanding of the policy and decision-making of the EU. Key for me was the proximity of the KULeuven to the institutions in Brussels and also the experience of the Professors in this area, most of whom have worked for many years in the various institutions. The multinational element was also a highlight for me.

I very much enjoyed my time at KULeuven, both the academic stimulus and the international body of students made this a worthwile experience. Also it did help me finding employment in the public sector and I am now working for UNMIK, i.e. the EU Pillar.
