
Luc Reychler, Secretary General (2004-2008)
Luc Reychler (Ph.D. Harvard, '76) is professor of international relations at the University of Leuven, and director of its Center of Peace Research and Strategic Studies. He teaches courses on peace research and conflict prevention, European strategy and security, multilateral diplomacy and negotiation techniques, and peace building architecture. His latest books are: Democratic peace building: the devil is in the transition; Peace building : a field guide; Le défi de la paix au Burundi: théorie et pratique; Conflict Impact Assessment (CIAS); De volgende genocide (The next genocide); Aid for Peace. His current research focusses on the architecture of successful peace building, peace building leadership, successful negotiations, and the political economy of peace building. In July 2004, he was elected Secretary General of the IPRA: the network for peace researchers.
