The history of European integration is a good starting point to learn to comprehend EU foreign policy. This section provides references and links to guide you through the process of European integration in the domain of foreign policy. The section is structured chronologically, starting with the Marshall Plan and the Schuman Declaration up to the changes in the Lisbon Treaty.

You can search for documents of EU institutions, through archives of political personalities or important officials, of movements or international organisations which played an integral role in the process which led to the construction of Europe. The HAEU has also formed a substantial collection of oral sources on the history of integration and acquired microfilmed copies of documents held in other archival institutions which illustrate the various Community treaties or enlargement negotiations.
