Centre for User Experience Research
The Centre for User Experience Research (CUO) is a research department of the faculty of Social Sciences at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium. The CUO pursues the design of user-friendly applications as well as the evaluation of applications on their user-friendliness. The user plays a central role within each phase of the development or evaluation process.
The CUO is part of the Centre for Media Culture en Communication Technology (CMC) and a research group of the Interdisciplinary Institute for Broadband Technology (IBBT).The CUO is housed at the Mediacentrum K.U.Leuven (see directions and contact details).

12/11 - SmartTouch project receives ITEA's best project award
The SmartTouch project, where CUO participated with user experience research, has been awarded with the best project award at the ITEA Symposium 2009 (have a look at some pictures).
The main results of the SmartTouch project can be consulted in a book which can be downloaded as pdf.
23/10 - Fun 'n games 2010
In 2010 CUO and the e-Medialab of Groep T will organize the Fun 'n Games conference.
It is a single-track, 2-day conference where academics and practitioners can interact together in a playful event that marries the best of academic writing with the most innovative user experiences.

09/10 - CUO co-organizes first SIGCHI.be conference on 19 October
On Monday 19 October 2009 SIGCHI.be, the Belgian branch of the Special Interest Group for Computer Human Interaction, organizes its first full-day conference in De Montil in Affligem.
The theme, ‘New Communities’, adresses the heightened interest in building and supporting communities, whether in the form of groupware, work communities, social networks, community software or communication tools.
With this conference SIGCHI.be wants to bring together not only researchers and practitioners working in the domain of human-computer interaction, including usability specialists, designers, computer scientists but everyone with an interest in Computer Human Interaction.
