David Geerts has a master in Communication Science at the K.U.Leuven and a master in Culture and Communication at the K.U.Brussel. He was project leader of the Mediacentrum of the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven for several years, and is now project leader of the Centre for Usability Research (CUO). He is involved in several research projects on user-centred design and evaluation. Furthermore, he acts as content manager for the post academic course Usability Design, for which he organizes and moderates several workshops. He is taking his doctor’s degree on Sociability of Interactive Television and is co-founder of the recently started Belgian SIGCHI.be chapter.
Marianna Obrist graduated in Communication and Political Science at the University of Salzburg. She is a researcher in the HCI & Usability Unit of the ICT&S Center at the University of Salzburg. The focal point of her research lies in human-computer interfaces, user-centered design of interactive services, and in particular the user involvement into the development of new products/systems. She is involved in several research projects concerned with the study of the home environment and the analysis of user requirements for interactive TV. She was part of the organization team for the MobileHCI 2005 conference. She is currently working on her PhD on self-motivated adaptation and innovation of interfaces in the context home.
Petter Bae Brandtzæg received the Master's degree in Social Psychology from the Norwegian University of Technical Science in 2000. He joined SINTEF ICT and the Department of Cooperative and Trusted Systems in 2000. He has been project manager in a number of research projects on Human-Computer Interaction issues. His expertise is in analyzing user trends and patterns of use in new media, digital literacy and user experience and usability evaluations of ICT systems. The last year he is coordinating a National research project studying use of new communication technologies among youth. He has a central role in a National project adapting user-centered methods and tools for use in the context of e-government (www.effin.org). He is at present manager for the Human-Computer Interaction group at SINTEF ICT.
Manfred Tscheligi is professor for Human-Computer Interaction & Usability at the University of Salzburg. He is a member of different expert groups and very active in the international research scene. He was General Conference Co-Chair of CHI2004 (ACM SIGCHI Conference on Human-Factors in Computing Systems) and he was chairing the MobileHCI 2005 conference. He is author of several publications and is a distinguished speaker at conferences and seminars. He has been responsible for more than 150 national and international projects (basic research, applied research, industrial co-operations) and several national and international initiatives. He is also member of the editorial board and special column editor of the ACM Interactions magazine. He has been involved in several workshop organization activities (recently MobileHCI05 and MobileHCI06).
