Prof. Valeria Pulignano (University of Leuven, Belgium)

Objectives

This course aims at presenting the 'Transitional Labour Markets' approach, from the positive point of view : the dynamic analysis of employment and work trajectories in Europe, and from a policy-oriented and normative point of view : a reform perspective of labour market policies and of the employment relationship.

Contents

The course starts by examining basic institutions and functionings of European labour markets within the field of industrial relations, with a special emphasis on internal labour markets, labour market policies and employment relations in Europe; then it presents and applies the "transitional labour markets" approach. One important application is the treatment of "senior workers" in different European countries.
