Courses: Master Dissertation

Objectives

In a period of two months students are supposed to write a 8000 words article ready for publication in a journal relevant to the field of social policy analysis.

Schedule

In October students receive a list of dissertation topics offered this academic year.
By end of November, the students make their final decisions concerning the topic of their dissertation.
From February on, when in Leuven, students can fully benefit from the Social Sciences library to collect material, copy books, and do the necessary research in the online databases. Students, whose supervisors are in KU Leuven or nearby institutions, should make appointments and meet their supervisors to discuss the dissertation.
By mid-February, students are expected to submit a brief dissertation research starting report. This has to provide a clear image of the student's insight in his/her subject. After approval by a supervisor, the student can hand it in for evaluation by the IMPALLA Educational Committee.
There are two deadlines for the dissertation submission. In order to be deliberated in June, students should submit their dissertation by mid-June. In order to be deliberated in September, the submission deadline is mid-July.
