Contents
After dealing with some terminological issues the 20th century evolution of social policy is sketched and a first broad explanation of its development is presented. Afterwards the policy making framework is discussed. This is followed by a presentation of the major analytical distinctions. Finally the international setting of the European social policy scene and comparative welfare state typologies is introduced.
