Objectives
The aim of this course is to examine the key demographic transformations in European countries, how these transformations have influenced and still influence society, economy, and well-being and what the consequence are in terms of social policies and in decision making.
Contents
This course will explain the major changes in life course transitions, family formation, fertility behaviour, gender relations, and also ageing.
- 1st and 2nd demographic transition (time, main causes).
- Fertility and family : Family formation, fertility, marriage and divorce
- Gender Asymmetry – labour market participation of women; child care; family care provision
- Ageing
