Alumni about their IMPALLA experience

Greg Armstrong, Australia, graduated 2007-2008

The IMPALLA qualification has proved extremely beneficial for my job hunting across government, academic and private sectors back here in Australia. I accepted a position with a great little private company which does some interesting program evaluation research that fits my interests. They are developing a stronger usage of statistical analysis in their work and the IMPALLA training was very useful for me in that regard. It was certainly a year to remember, and we will all continue to gain rewards for our hard work!

Liesbeth Van Parys, Belgium, graduated 2007-2008

IMPALLA is an experience not to forget - in the positive sense! It was a great opportunity to put in practice old, but especially develop new skills and acquire new knowledge. There is quite a lot on the programme, but as the group is small, we were supported very well throughout this (sometimes though) process by the professors, assistant professors and administration. The focus on teamwork also enabled me to further develop my communication and presentation skills. I also appreciated the fact that the Master was not purely theoretical, there were quite some opportunities to put the new knowledge in practice - especially with the Master Dissertation. Finally, as the students come from all over the world one is confronted with different opinions and values. Spending so much time together both in working and in leisure time, we learned a lot from one another and enjoyed unforgettable moments. IMPALLA is thus definitely more than a decent study programme. I will start an internship in the International Labour Organisation now, where I will be able to put into practice my 'academic luggage' gathered so far. I am sure the IMPALLA master will be of great use for this and for the rest of my future career.

Ana Diakonidze, Georgia, graduated 2007-2008

Getting to know the world starts with getting to know yourself. In order to get to know yourself it is important to expose oneself to new people and new experiences. In this regard IMPALLA was the best thing I have done so far. I enriched my professional and interpersonal skills, made friends from all over the world and after going back home had no problems in finding a job. I work for UN refugee agency now, looking forward to other exciting post-IMPALLA experiences.

Nadine Genet, the Netherlands, graduated 2007-2008

IMPALLA was a perfect topping off of my previous bachelor and master, which were more theoretically oriented. IMPALLA gave me hands-on skills for quantitative research but also qualitative. The thing I will remember most is the tight knit group of students we had. It made, together with all the academic skills that were teached, this to be an unforgettable year.
