About the history of the IMPALLA programme

CEPS/INSTEAD is a public research institution which was established by Luxembourg law in1989. In 1995, it has been identified by the European Commission as a large scale facility in the socio-economic sciences, and as a major European research infrastructure in 2001.

With the political and financial support of the Luxembourg Prime Minister and the Minister of Culture, Higher Education and Research a CEPS/INSTEAD related University Consortium was formed in order to create a Graduate School for Comparative Public Policy Analysis and Data.

As the first track of this school an International Master of Science in Social Policy Analysis (IMPALLA) started in Differdange on August 19, 2002.

In order to develop the University Consortium and to guarantee the academic standards of the programme, CEPS/INSTEAD has made a joint venture agreement with the Department of Sociology of the K.U. Leuven as key partner.

In February 2009, the IMPALLA programme was accredited by NVAO (Nederlands-Vlaamse accreditatieorganisatie).
